Booking opens for ABPmer Coastal Managed Realignment event

ABP Marine Environmental Research Limited (ABPmer) a recognised authority in coastal habitat creation has announced it will host a seminar on optimising the delivery of coastal managed realignment on 10 November 2010.

One Great George Street, WestminsterThe aims of the event are: to bring together parties involved in managed realignment practice; to share experiences and; to address the current state of knowledge with a view to identifying the way forward for undertaking better and more cost effective schemes in the future.

Being held at One Great George Street, Westminster; the seminar is aimed at coastal management regulators, coastal practitioners, engineers, consultants and other stakeholders with a role or interest in the future planning and management of the coast.   The day will consist of three sessions exploring site selection, scheme design, stakeholder engagement and other hot topics such as ecosystem services.

Colin Scott, ABPmer Environment Specialist said “ABPmer has been involved in a number of managed realignment projects around the UK and maintains a ‘live’ online database of European schemes (OMREG).  However, our experience is just one small part of the vast amount of work that has been done by many different organisations in the UK, and across the rest of Europe, over the past two decades.  There is, therefore, a massive amount of good practice for all parties to tap into and exchange.  We want to bring people together to build an understanding of the main gaps and opportunities for improving future delivery, to prioritise actions and considerations for streamlining the delivery of future schemes and, to explore mechanisms to maintain knowledge transfer.”
